Chief's Message:

We are proud to serve this beautiful community with a dedicated, diverse, and active emergency response team. Whether you’re a full-time resident, a visiting worker, or a tourist, our mission is to provide a caring and professional response to your emergency.

We live and play here too, and we’re deeply committed to enhancing public safety in Iqaluit. Our work is done in close coordination with other local emergency services, including Municipal Enforcement, the RCMP, Airport Fire, the Office of the Fire Marshal, and various City departments.

Though we are a small team, we are extremely active and manage a wide range of emergency situations—from an increasing number of medical calls to fires, vehicle incidents, hazardous material spills, and more.

You can support our work by practicing fire safety, pulling over for emergency vehicles with lights and sirens activated, and keeping clear of workers and hazards during emergency scenes. You might even consider joining our ranks.

Finally, we encourage you to make a personal commitment to your family’s safety and resilience. Make sure smoke alarms are installed and working on every level of your home and talk with your family about what to do in the event of a fire or other emergency.
