This employment opportunity is open to all applicants.

  • Under the direct supervision of the Controller of Corporate Services, the Finance Officerensures all payments are applied correctly to each account while dealing with public inquiries about services and billing procedures.  The incumbent is also responsible for accepting and processing all payments, which include receiving and processing incoming payments, invoices and collections; preparing daily bank deposits, responding to customer inquiries, and maintaining related financial reports and files.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting

  • Minimum two years work experience with computerized accounting, spreadsheets and word processing

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with the citizens of Iqaluit;

  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of software, accounting software and spreadsheets;

  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced work environment;

Assets

  • Ability to communicate in Inuktitut is a definite asset 
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
  • Strong organizational skills

Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate must successfully pass a criminal reference check.

Equivalencies that include a combination of education and experience may be considered.

All relevant certifications are required at time of application.  The successful candidate would be required to submit a Criminal Record Check, as well as an acceptable Driver’s Abstract.
