2ND CONSULTATION PLANNED FOR WATER AND SEWER DEVELOPMENT CHARGES BY-LAW
The City is holding a second consultation on a proposed new by-law regarding a development charge to fund water and sewer infrastructure, that is required to support new development.
The by-law proposes to apply a one-time charge on new development that would be payable before a Development Permit is issued. The funds would help pay for upgrades to the main sewer line, which is currently at capacity.
The charge would be approximately $930 per dwelling unit and $7.88 per metre square of non-residential development. The by-law proposes exemptions or reductions on the charge for certain types of developments.
A second public meeting to obtain information and to discuss the proposed sewer and water development charges by-law will be held at the next Council meeting, Tuesday March 12th, starting a 6 PM, in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.
Written comments may also be submitted to the Planning and Development Department at Building 2425 or to email@example.com by end of day Friday, March 15th 2019.
