Fire Response – 2699 & 2701 Area - Tundra Ridge
January 18, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit Fire Department responded to a fire just before 11:00 PM on Tuesday, January 16th.

There was one death. The cause of death is currently under investigation with the RCMP.

Additionally, five individuals were taken to hospital due to smoke inhalation and other minor injuries.

One unit was affected by the fire and the occupants have been displaced. All other units were cleared for the residents to return, once the fire operations were complete.

The Iqaluit Fire Department is working with the Nunavut Fire Marshalls Office and the RCMP Fire Investigator on this incident.
