Landfill Temporarily Not Accepting Scrap Metal
May 11, 2022 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

They City would like to inform residents that due to potential safety hazard for residents, the landfill will close the scrap metal portion of the site from May 16, 2022, to June 16, 2022, to allow for metal crushing activities. During this time, the landfill will not receive any scrap metal, appliances, or end of life vehicles.

The landfill scrap metal area will reopen for public drop-off on June 17, 2022.

Additionally, during the period of May 16-20, end-of-life vehicles will be transported off of the landfill site. As increased heavy equipment traffic can be expected in the area, residents are asked to drive with caution when driving near the landfill.

The City thanks residents for their cooperation to ensure everyone’s safety.
