NEW DEVELOPMENT CHARGE BY-LAW PAYS FOR SEWER INFRASTRUCTURE UPGRADE
The third and final reading of the Water and Sewer Development Charge By-law #873 was recently passed by Council. The by-law applies a one-time charge on new development to fund sewer infrastructure to support growth.
By-law #873 permits a one-time development charge for new development projects, that will help cover the costs of installing a sewer line from the City’s access vault 253 to the waste water treatment plant. One-time fees are $929.84 per dwelling unit, and $7.88 per square metre of floor space for non-residential development.
The one-time charge for new development projects provides a mechanism to fund the upgrades required to a major sewer line to support growth.
By-law #873 goes into effect immediately.
