NEW JIMMY KILABUK RUN TO BE HELD JUNE 22nd
The City is pleased to announce the first ever Jimmy Kilabuk run – a special community-wide event that will be held Saturday, June 22, 2019, from 10 AM to 4 PM, at the Arctic Winter Games (AWG) Complex. A bar-b-que and games will also be available.
For a minimum donation of $25, participants will be able to participate in one of the races available that day – a 21 kilometre (KM), 10 KM, 5 KM, 3 KM and/or
1 mile fun run. All funds raised during this event will be donated to the Jimmy Kilabuk Recreation Fund, which supports Inuit children and families on income assistance in participating at Aquatic Centre programs and activities. Support can include pool passes, swimming lessons, aquatic leadership programs, participation on swim teams, as well as other activities.
Residents interested in participating are required to register by 10 AM June 22, for the 3 KM, 5 KM and 10 KM runs. For the 21 KM run, residents are asked to register by 9 PM on June 21. Community members not involved in the run can still attend the bar-b-que and other games at the AWG, for a small cost.
For more information, as well as to register, please contact the Aquatic Centre Guest Services desk at 867.975.8544, or by email at aquacticcentre@city.iqaluit.nu.ca.
