REMINDER: Dog/Cat Registration

December 27, 2019 (Iqaluit, Nunavut) The City of Iqaluit would like to remind residents that the cost for dog registration is thirty-five dollars ($35.00) for spayed or neutered dogs and fifty-five dollars ($55.00) for non-spayed/neutered dogs.

As per the bylaw, all owners shall have their dog/dogs licensed every year with the City of Iqaluit and the dog tag must be worn at all times. Also, as per the by-law, all dog-owners licensing their pet must provide proof that their dog has been spayed or neutered. If not, they will be required to pay the fifty-five dollars ($55.00) fee for non-spayed/neutered dogs.

According to the Responsible Pet Ownership By-law 796 and the Canadian Inuit Dog and Dog Team By-Law 537 all owners shall not permit their dog to be at large. By registering your dog or dogs, a loose dog that is picked up by Municipal Enforcement can notify the dog owner so that the dog may be returned quickly.

All loose dogs that are picked up are subject to a fine and fee upon release.

All residents are asked to call dispatch anytime at 979-5650 regarding any loose dog(s) or complaints especially where they are deemed to be a risk to public safety.
