Trucked Services and Piped Services – Clarification of Orders

The City of Iqaluit continues to make progress on the investigation into the drinking water quality issue.

For additional clarity, the City would like to advise residents of the following:

Residents and businesses that are on the piped system (utilidor) remain under a Do Not Con-sume order until further notice. Water from the taps connected to the piped system may be used for:
• Showering and bathing
o Pregnant women, infants and newborns can bathe, or be bathed in tap water
• Doing laundry
• Washing dishes
• Hand washing

Residents and businesses that are on Trucked Services, AND have cleaned their water tanks in accordance with the advised tank cleaning method; and those using river water from the depot remain under a Boil Water Advisory until further notice. River water may be used for:
• Consumption after boiling and filtering (including drinking and cooking)
• Showering and bathing
o Pregnant women, infants and newborns can bathe, or be bathed in river water
• Doing laundry
• Washing dishes
• Hand washing
