Water Service Shutdown
September 10, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents of a planned water service shutdown on Thursday, September 12, 2024, due to essential maintenance.

The water shutdown will occur in the following areas:

400,550,552,554,556,558,560,561,562,563,564,565,567,568,569,570,571,572,573,575,576,577,578,579,580,581,582,584 and 586.

Water services will be interrupted from 0900am until 1200noon (Approximately)

Once services are restored a precautionary boil water advisory for the above addresses is required.

During a precautionary boil water advisory, the city recommends that all water for consumption is brought to a rolling boil for a minimum of one full minute.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to:
  • Store enough water for the duration of the shutdown.
  • Avoid using appliances such as dishwashers and washing machines during the shutdown.
  • Reduce water consumption where possible until service is restored.
