A water interruption will be taking place effective immediately due to a water main break.

Location of water interruption: Plateau

These areas remain under a precautionary boil water advisory.

During a precautionary boil water advisory, the City recommends that all water for consumption is brought to a rolling boil for a minimum of one full minute.

It is recommended that all water be boiled for the following uses:

The City Of Iqaluit is currently working closely with the Department of Health regarding the discoloured water due to the valve repair this morning. Residents are advised that there are no health concerns with the water, and it is safe to drink.

Please be advised of a water shut down for all of Iqaluit on Tuesday, March 1st, 2022 from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to allow for the replacement of key valves to our water infrastructure. This work will ensure that valves are functioning as intended which will allow staff to better isolate sections of pipe during water shut downs for future repairs.

Water Quality Update

• The multi-tank bypass remains in operation

• The raw water from Lake Geraldine is subject to Ultra-Violet primary and chlorine secondary disinfection followed by straining prior to being discharged to the City’s reservoirs and distribution system.

• The bypass is expected to remain in operation until the permanent tank solution is installed

• A team of engineering specialists were on site to assess the condition of the Water Treatment Plant concrete tanks

Water Delivery Schedule Disruption

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents on trucked-water of a schedule disruption due repairs required to one of the City water trucks.

With this vehicle taken out of our fleet for a short period, residents can expect potential delays in water deliveries on February 04, 2022. All residents will receive water on Friday; however, there could be a time delay to the normal route schedule.
