NEW JIMMY KILABUK RUN TO BE HELD JUNE 22nd
The City is pleased to announce the first ever Jimmy Kilabuk run – a special community-wide event that will be held Saturday, June 22, 2019, from 10 AM to 4 PM, at the Arctic Winter Games (AWG) Complex. A bar-b-que and games will also be available.
For a minimum donation of $25, participants will be able to participate in one of the races available that day – a 21 kilometre (KM), 10 KM, 5 KM, 3 KM and/or

BRIDGE NOW OPEN ON ROAD TO NOWHERE
The City of Iqaluit is pleased to inform residents that the bridge on the Road to Nowhere has been repaired.
The bridge was closed to traffic last year due to structural concerns identified by an engineering consultant retained by the City. The City undertook structural
repairs to the abutments (structural supports), as well as improvements to erosion protection of the abutments, in order to address these concerns,
ensuring the safety of residents.
The bridge is now available for use.

CAUTION REQUIRED AT SNOWMOBILE CROSSINGS
The City is advising residents and snowmobilers that snow removal operations at intersections and drainage areas are currently underway through-out the City. The removal of snow may affect snowmobile travel at some known snowmobile crossings.
This work is needed in preparation of the spring melt, to help clear drainage areas and reduce the possibility of water overflowing onto roadways.
The City is asking snowmobilers to please use caution when travelling near these snow removal sites.

TURF NOW AVAILABLE AT ARCTIC WINTER GAMES COMPLEX
The City is pleased to announce that the Indoor Sports Field at the Arctic Winter Games Complex will open May 11, 2019. To celebrate the opening, bouncers will be set-up for a free family drop-in, from 3:30 PM to 5 PM on May 11th.
Turf schedules for May and June will be posted on Friday, April 26th, 2019, and can also be found on the City’s website, the Recreation Department’s Facebook page, as well as in hard copy at the AWG Complex.

COUNCIL APPROVES 2018 AUDITED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

At the Council meeting held April 23, 2019, Mayor Redfern and Council accepted and approved the City’s audited financial statements as presented by Councillor Sheppard, the Chair of the Finance Committee.

“Our 2018 audited financial statements clearly show that the hard work of our employees, directed by strong leadership in Council, is bringing the city’s finances back on track,” said Mayor Redfern.

The City is advising residents that due to continued repairs at Lift Station 1 (located between units 1000 and 738) , the outfall area behind the Lift Station, which crosses the skidoo trail on the beach, has been fenced-off and is considered off-limits for pedestrians, vehicles and skidoos.
