Tune into the AFN’s (l’Association des francophone du Nunavut) radio station – CFRT 107.3 FM – Thursdays, to hear the re-broadcasting of council meetings.

Council meetings will be rebroadcast in Inuktitut at 1:30 PM on the Thursday following each Council meeting. The meeting will also be rebroadcast in English at 7 PM on the second Thursday following each Council meeting.

The broadcast schedule is available on the AFN’s website, www.cfrt.ca.

CITY PASSES BY-LAW FOR CANNABIS CONSUMPTION/SMOKING/VAPING

OCTOBER 10, 2018 - (IQALUIT, NUNAVUT) -   Mayor Redfern, on behalf of Council, announced today that the City’s By-law for Cannabis Consumption, Smoking and Vaping passed the third reading last night. Bylaw #863will go into effect on October 17th – the day Federal and Territorial Cannabis Legislation becomes law.

OCTOBER 9, 2018 (IQALUIT, NUNAVUT) – As part of Fire Prevention Week, the City is pleased to announce that the Emergency Services Department will be holding an open house Saturday, October 13th, from 4 PM to 7 PM, at the Fire Station located by City Hall. Residents are invited to tour the Fire Hall, examine a fire truck up close, see a demonstration of a “live burn” where a living room will be set on fire, and enjoy a barbeque and refreshments.

OCTOBER 4, 2018 (IQALUIT, NUNAVUT) - The City would like to advise residents that City offices will be closed for Thanksgiving, Monday, October 8th, 2018. Trucked-services will also be restricted during this time.
Residents requesting water delivery on Monday may call the City’s dispatch service at 979.5650, from 8 AM to 4 PM. A service charge of $250 will be applied for emergency delivery.
