UPDATE: WATER SHUT-DOWN NOT REQUIRED FOR WEDNESDAY UPGRADE
AUGUST 29, 2018 (IQALUIT, NUNAVUT) – The City is advising residents that the water shut-down originally planned for Northmart, Nakashuk School and 692 is no longer required.
Crews were able to complete the work without shutting down the water to these buildings. The work is now complete for this upgrade, with no further action required.
The City thanks residents for their understanding.

UPDATED: REDUCED TIME FOR JOAMIE COURT WATER CONNECTION
AUGUST 28, 2018 (IQALUIT, NUNAVUT) – The City would like to inform residents in the addresses below that the time-frame for the interruption of water service for the following areas has been reduced to 12 hours, and will now occur this evening, from 7 PM Tuesday, August 28, until 7 AM Wednesday, August 29, 2018.
Affected addresses include: 2200s, 2400s (trucked services not included), 2600s, 2700s, 4000s, 4100s, 400s, 500s and 1600’s.

 Prior to a shut-down, fill containers with water and store in a cool, dark location.
 Fill the bathtub for water use, to use as a required.
This water can be used to pour into a toilet to help with flushing.
 Anti-bacterial hand sanitizer can be used for hand washing.
Once the water is restored
 Often, during a water shut-down, sediment can accumulate in pipes, causing the discolouration once the water is restored.

Over the next few weeks, the City will be implementing three separate projects, that all have an impact on the City’s water system. The projects include water- loss reduction (which is part of the City’s water conservation strategy); planned infrastructure repairs; and construction regarding the Joamie Court subdivision.

JOAMIE COURT SUBDIVISION CONSTRUCTION ZONE

AUGUST 17, 2018 (IQALUIT, NUNAVUT) – Nunavut Excavating would like to advise residents that construction activities for the new Joamie Court Subdivision will start August 18th and will continue until the end of October, 2018.  Traffic delays, route detours, road closures and/or water interruptions could be experienced in the area of the Niaqunngusiaq Road and Paunna Road intersection during this time.

Water Conservation: Please be “water wise”

August 3rd, 2018 (IQALUIT, NUNAVUT) The City of Iqaluit is kindly requesting our residents, visitors and businesses to conserve water.  In part, this is due to the lower precipitation experienced in June and uncertainty about this summer and fall precipitation.  Not wasting water is good for our City water supply, good for the environment and saves money on water bills.

REMINDER: HELMET/INSURANCE/LICENCE PLATE REQUIRED FOR ALL TERRAIN VEHICLES (ATVs)
JULY 19, 2018 (IQALUIT, NUNAVUT) – The City would like to remind residents that insurance as well as a licence plate issued from the Department of Motor Vehicles are required for anyone using an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) within city limits.
As per Bylaw #557 the All-Terrain Vehicle Bylaw, an individual could receive a fine up to $200, and could also have their ATV seized if they are stopped and do not have insurance or registration.
