Food Security- Call for Proposals 2020-2021

May 12, 2020

In partnership with the Government of Nunavut, the City of Iqaluit is working to address concerns around food security for residents during this pandemic. Registered, non-profit organizations are invited to apply for the new COVID-19 Food Security Relief Funding program.  This initiative is meant to assist organizations and programs in addressing food security issues that have arisen, or are exacerbated as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received, until the end of business on Friday, September 18th, 2020.  Funding will be awarded on a rolling basis.

Subject to the availability of funds, applicants may be awarded more than one grant throughout the duration of the funding call; subsequent applications would be required. Projects of up to $20,000.00 will be considered.

Applicants must demonstrate how their project follows established nutrition guidelines; preference will be given to those projects that focus on whole, fresh foods, and/or country foods as part of a balanced approach to nutrition.

Funding will be awarded only to organizations that are in good standing with Legal Registries, and the City of Iqaluit.

All funds must be expended prior to March 31st, 2021.

Application forms are available on the City Website: www.iqaluit.ca .  For more information, please email: communityfunding@iqaluit.ca
