Trucked Water Services Update - Change of Water Source

This announcement pertains to all businesses and residents on Trucked Services.

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise all residents and businesses on Trucked Services that the source of their water is changing, effective Tuesday, November 9th, 2021.

The colder temperatures are making pumping operations at the river increasingly difficult. The cold water poses a threat to water truck pumps and other equipment and elevates safety con-cerns. Continuing to fill trucks at the river increases the risk of delays to water delivery for the short and long term. To minimize risks of water delivery interruptions, the City will be ceasing pumping operations for trucked services delivery from the river effective Tuesday, November 9th, 2021.

Water delivery to all residents on Trucked Services will continue, however trucks will be filled at the Booster Station, using piped water.

This means that all residents and businesses will now be under a Do Not Consume Order until further notice.

Water that is delivered directly to a residential or business water tank can now be used for:

• Laundry
• Showering and bathing, including pregnant women and infants
• Hand washing
• Washing dishes

Please see the companion Public Service Announcement released on todays’ date (November 8th) on the update on the availability of drinking water.
