Water Quality Monitoring Sample Results

The City has received and is releasing the latest results of the ongoing water quality monitoring. These results cover test results from the weekly sampling program taken between November 16th 2021 and November 23rd, 2021.

The City is testing for BTEX/PHC[F1-F4], which tests for Petroleum Hydrocarbons in the water using 11 different parameters.

Samples are taken from six different locations within the water treatment plant and seven locations throughout the water distribution system. The sample points from the water distribution system are spread across Iqaluit, to provide an all-encompassing assessment of the water quality.

The sample results have all been returned with a non-detect result for petroleum hydrocarbons at all sample points in the water treatment plant and the distribution system.

For the immediate future, the City will continue to release results on a weekly basis with a visual presentation of the results and raw data being released on a bi-weekly basis.

The current Do Not Consume Advisory issued by the Government of Nunavut’s Department of Public Health on October 12, 2021, remains in place.
