Reminder to share public spaces

As the weather gets warmer and more people go outside to enjoy the fresh air, sun, the land and the roads, we are sending a reminder to be courteous of others when sharing public spaces.

If we are not at home, we are in a shared space. Be mindful that people have different levels of tolerance for sharing space with others, especially during a pandemic.

When in a shared space, remember to:

- Always wear a mask when around people.
- Do not travel or gather in groups larger than five people.
- Carry and use hand sanitizer after touching frequented touch spots like door handles.
- Keep six-feet apart from people at all times. If there no safe way to keep this distance, take another route.
- Choose another outdoor location if the spot is already taken.
- Keep your one-use mask and dispose at home.
- Decrease driving speeds in areas where children play outside.
- Keep vehicle music volume low when in residential areas.
- Walk against traffic and make eye contact with drivers to ensure you see each other.
- Refrain from sharing equipment such as balls, bicycles and helmets, etc. outside of one’s household members.
- Adhere to the closures of outdoor parks and facilities.

As you go outside to find peace, let others find theirs too. The City and your neighbours thank you for your cooperation.
