Additional Water Shipments Arriving in Iqaluit

The City of Iqaluit would like to notify residents that additional bottled water will be arriving into Iqaluit this afternoon.

The Government of Nunavut has a shipment of approximately 89,000 liters of water that should arrive within multiple shipments today. An additional 42,000 liters of water will be arriving next week.

In addition to this allotment, Agnico Eagle Mines will be delivering approximately 15,000 liters of water to Iqaluit as well. The City is expecting this shipment to arrive today.

The City of Iqaluit will have bottled water distribution stations set up at the following locations

- Arctic Winter Games Arena Complex Parking Lot from 4:30PM to 8:00PM today (or until all water is gone)

- Nakasuk School from 4:30PM to 8:00PM today (or until all water is gone)

We ask that residents who picked up water yesterday refrain from picking water up again today to allow other residents to have access to bottled water.

Residents will be provided with a maximum of 4- 4L jugs per household. These containers are reusable, and we encourage residents to keep them for future water storage and collection. Please use caution and pay attention to your surroundings while collecting water. We recommend that this water be used for consumption only.

The City would like to remind elders or those with physical restrictions that they can contact the Water hotline at 867-979-5603, between the hours of 9AM and 5PM, Monday through Friday to have bottled water dropped off.
