Call Out for Iqaluit City Council Member
July 13, 2022- Iqaluit, Nunavut
The City of Iqaluit is looking for a person interested in serving as members of the Iqaluit City Council.
In order to qualify, the prospective appointee must meet the following criteria:
I am a Canadian citizen;
I am at least 18 years old on Election Day;
I am a resident of Nunavut for at least one year;
I am a resident of Iqaluit;
If I am a member of the Public Service (GN) I will comply with the Public Service Act in respect to becoming a member of council;
I am NOT personally in debt to the City of Iqaluit for $500 or more for more than 90 days;
I do NOT have controlling interest in a company that is in debt to the City of Iqaluit for $500 or more for more than 90 days;
I have paid all municipal taxes before December 31 in the year they were billed;
I am NOT an employee of the City of Iqaluit;
I am NOT an assessor or auditor of the City of Iqaluit or a surety for an officer or employee of the City of Iqaluit;
I am NOT a justice of the peace;
I am NOT a Sheriff;
I am NOT a judge of any court, other than a citizenship court;
I am NOT disqualified for psychiatric reasons;
I am NOT confined to a correctional institution;
I have NOT committed an election offense anywhere in Canada with the last 5 years;
I am NOT an MP, MLA, or Senator and;
The Appointment to Municipal Council-Councillor Application are available at City Hall Building #1085 at Side ‘A’ Reception.
The deadline for the applicant's application to be submitted to city hall, the city clerk's office, will be Thursday, September 29, at 4:30 PM.
