Canada Day Celebration Events for July 1st, 2020

July 18th, 2020 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

 

The City of Iqaluit Recreation Department is pleased to announce that this year’s Canada Day celebrations will take place on Wednesday, July 1st, 2020.

 

This year in lieu of COVID-19 social distancing protocols, a mobile concert featuring local artists will be driven through the residential streets of Iqaluit and Apex. We are bringing the show to you so that residents can adhere to social distancing protocols.  The concert will commence at 11:30 AM, and end at 3:30 PM. The concert route will be announced closer to the date of the event.

 

A Virtual Cake Decorating Contest will take place online.  Send us pictures of your creation to the City of Iqaluit Recreation Facebook page to enter.  A theme will be shared announced in the coming days.  Entries will be accepted between, 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM with a winner announced the following day.

 

A Virtual Canada Day Fun Run will take place throughout the day, two routes will be announced. Runners are asked to send their Run times to recreation@iqaluit.ca before 4:00 PM. Winners will be announced the following day.

 

A Kids Bike Decorating Contest will take place at multiple locations throughout the community. At 1:00 PM, come visit us at the Fire Hall, AWG arena or Abe Okpik Hall to show off your creation and compete to win prizes. Winners will be announced the following day.

 

We invite residents to show off their vehicles with a Virtual Vehicle Decoration Contest. Post pictures of your creation to the City of Iqaluit Recreation Facebook page to enter. Entries will be accepted between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, with a winner announced the following day.
