Mayor Bell is aware of recent social media posts made by a City Councillor in response to a racialized statement yesterday. The Councillor has since made a public apology.

Statement from Mayor Bell:
“City Councillors are held accountable to following the City’s code of conduct and human rights and anti-harassment policy. Council will be discussing this together at the next City Council meeting and will take this opportunity to look at additional ways to educate council on racism, biases, and other social discrimination.
City Councillors represent the entire community and we will respect the diverse nature of all our citizens.”
The City encourages residents to continue to be aware of social inequities and racism, and to speak up and teach others.
