Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of D-Day
June 5, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit, in collaboration with the Royal Canadian Legion, is proud to honor the 80th Anniversary of D-Day on June 6, 2024.

D-Day marks a pivotal moment in World War II, representing the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought for freedom and peace. As a mark of respect and remembrance, all flags will be lowered to half-mast for the day.

The Royal Canadian Legion will be holding a commemorative ceremony on June 6th at the Cenotaph or inside the Legion, depending on the weather. The ceremony will commence at 10:45 AM. We encourage all residents to join us in honoring the memory of those who served on D-Day.
