COVID-19 Recreation Update – Phase 3 Reopening
Aquatic Centre
The Aquatic Centre has instituted a series of COVID-19 precautions, which means the facility and its programs will be reopening in phases. The facility will be amending its current reopening plan to accommodate the new public health orders.
Required reservations will continue to open every Sunday at 12:00 p.m. for the community and 11:00 a.m. for annual pass holders. Reservations can be done online, by phone and by visiting Guest Services at the Aquatic Centre. Reserving your session will allow the facility to maintain our limited capacity, which helps promote physical distancing and prevents the spread of COVID-19.
Starting Tuesday, October 13th, the facility will provide Parent & Tot swim with a maximum of 25 people in the leisure pool. On Monday, October 19th, we will also be providing Family Swims times with a maximum of 25 people in the leisure pool. Please check the Pool Schedule for exact times.
The facility will also be offering contactless swimming lessons starting with Swimmer 3 and up, Adult Lessons and Breakers Swim Team. Registration will open on Tuesday, October 13th at 1:00 p.m. Please register using the Max Galaxy online portal or by visiting Guest Services as lessons will have reduced spots available. You will be able to bring in your child for a free 5-minute swimming assessment from Tuesday, October 13th to Friday October 16th from 5:15 – 7:30 p.m. to ensure your child is in the correct swimming lesson. In order to have more swimmers in the pool, we kindly remind parents and spectators to drop their children and pick them up promptly after their swimming lesson. If your child is under 8-years-old, there must be a caretaker in the building with them, there will be limited seating space in the Northwestel Multi purpose Room. The viewing gallery to the pool will remain closed.
The Hot Tub and Sauna will remain closed during this phase.
Starting Tuesday, October 13th, The Fitness Centre will be offering drop-in classes and pre-registered programs with a maximum of 10 guests per class. Please check the website for the Fitness Schedule. Reserved Solo workouts with the current schedule will continue.
The Aquatic Centre wants to provide a safe environment and an enjoyable experience for everyone. We have created an online portal to make reservations and payments easier. It is required to create a free Max Galaxy Account and reserve online at https://cityofiqaluitrecreation.maxgalaxycanada.net/BrowseActivities.aspx.
