Household Hazardous Waste Drop Off – Happy Valley – Saturday August 31, 2024
August 28, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut
The City of Iqaluit would like to remind residents of the Household Hazardous Waste drop off point open Saturday August 31, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Happy Valley, between House 411 and 413. This event provides residents an opportunity to safely dispose of their Household Hazardous Waste.
Household hazardous waste includes many items that people are storing in their garages, kitchens, or bathrooms and are no longer needed. Hazardous items are often toxic or flammable which means extra care should be taken when disposing of them.
The public is encouraged to take advantage of the hazardous waste collection day by coming out and safely disposing of these unwanted or unusable items.
Household items to be accepted (include but are not limited to):
Anti-freeze, Adhesives, Aerosols, Automotive and Household Batteries, Cleaners, Corrosives, Fuels, Mercury, Oxidizers, Poisons, Paint Cans and Spray Paint, Pharmaceuticals, Solvents, Electronics Waste.
Items not accepted:
Used oil, oil filters, oil containers, tires, propane tanks, biological waste, infectious waste, radioactive waste, explosives, ammunition and industrial waste.
Residents are asked to keep the labels on the materials brought for disposal. This helps to identify the substances for proper disposal and avoids the need for testing substances.
