Inuit Child First Initiative Registration and Rollout

October 30, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit is thrilled to announce the rollout of the Inuit Child First Initiative starting on November 1, 2024. This program provides crucial financial support to Inuit families with children under 18 years of age.

Eligible families will receive $500 per month per qualifying child to assist with purchasing food. In addition, families with children under the age of 4 will receive an extra $250 per month to help cover the costs of diapers, formula, and baby wipes.

Who can apply?

Any Parent, Guardian, or their designated representative can submit a request for funding.

How to apply:

  • Register now by visiting www.cfi-iqaluit.ca/ to enroll online, or
  • Stop by City Hall to meet with one of our Wellness Coordinators, who can assist with your application.

When applying, please ensure you have the child’s or parent’s NTI number along with the child’s health card or birth certificate.

The City understands the excitement around this program and asks for residents’ patience as we navigate the initial rollout, beginning on November 1, 2024. We anticipate minor delays during the first few weeks as we work to process all applications.
