Job in Focus – Community Communications Liaison

The City of Iqaluit would like to draw your attention to an exciting opportunity for a qualified applicant. We are currently recruiting a Community Communications Liaison!
This vital role is responsible for connecting residents with City services, supporting and coordinating City communications, and ensuring effective customer service delivery. As an advocate for Nunavut Inuit and local residents, the Community Communications Liaison will work closely with City departments to ensure residents have a positive experience with the City.
The successful candidate will have a College Diploma or University Degree in Communications, Cultural Studies, Business Administration, or a related field, and a minimum of two years of experience in the municipal, territorial, federal government, or not-for-profit sectors. Fluency in both Inuktitut and English, along with strong public speaking, writing, and problem-solving skills, is required. The ideal candidate will be familiar with Iqaluit’s history and Inuit culture, have experience in customer service and conflict resolution, and be proficient in the MS Office Suite and file management systems.
In this position, the Liaison will work to resolve customer service issues, participate as part of a team to evaluate and implement communications processes, and create materials for internal and external audiences, including content for the website and social media platforms.
As part of the City’s commitment to promoting Inuit culture and its Inuit Employment Plan (IEP), this position is open to Nunavut Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement.
