Job in Focus – Junior GIS and Planning Technician
June 25, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to draw your attention to an exciting opportunity for a qualified applicant. We are currently seeking applications for the position of Junior GIS and Planning Technician.

The City of Iqaluit upholds the principles and intent of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement. Priority consideration will be given to Nunavut Inuit applicants; candidates should clearly indicate their eligibility under this agreement.

The Junior GIS and Planning Technician will support the Planning and Development Department with GIS data management, spatial analysis, and the creation of maps and planning documents. The successful candidate will assist in land use planning, zoning, and community development projects.

Qualifications:

  • A 2-year diploma in Environmental Technology (ETP), Public Policy, or equivalent.
  • Experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with the cultural, social, and economic landscape of Nunavut is an asset.
