Mask Wearing in Recreational Facilities

As of September 20, 2021, the Government of Nunavut’s Department of Health made mask wearing mandatory in public places, in all communities across the territory.

The City of Iqaluit would like remind residents that as part of these ongoing measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, masks are mandatory in all City of Iqaluit Facilities, at all times, with the following exceptions:

• Masks are not required when a person is actively playing or officiating in the AWG Arena or
Arnaitok Arena playing field. Once that person is no longer actively play or officiating, they are
once again required to wear a mask in all other common areas.
• Masks are not required in and around the swimming pool. However, masks are still required
everywhere else in the Aquatic Centre, including while working out in the Fitness Centre and
Studio.

The City would like to thank residents for their ongoing collaboration to adhere to these guidelines.
