New Business License Portal Now Open
November 17, 2025 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

 

The City of Iqaluit advises all business owners that the online portal for 2026 business license renewals is now open.

Business owners are encouraged to submit their renewal applications by January 31, 2026, to take advantage of a discounted renewal fee. Applications received on or after February 1, 2026, will be subject to the full renewal fee.

As outlined in the City of Iqaluit Business Licensing By-Law No. 859, all businesses must hold a valid 2026 license by February 15, 2026, to avoid penalties. Applications submitted after this date will also be charged a $50.00 administrative fee in addition to the regular renewal fee.

To streamline this year’s process, the City has launched a new online Business License Portal, powered by CloudPermit. This platform will now be used for all business license applications and renewals, offering a more efficient and accessible experience for applicants.

Please note: The online application system is active; however, the payment portal is not ready at this time. Business payments must be made in person at City Hall until further notice.

• Renewal period opens: November 10, 2025

In-Person Support:

To assist businesses in transitioning to the new system, the Economic Development Officer (EDO) will be available at City Hall for drop-in support during the following times:

 

• November 17–21: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (first-come, first-served).
• November 25 – December 11: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
