Fire Department Thanks Residents
September 11, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut
The City of Iqaluit Fire Department wants to thank residents for their improved response in clearing the road for emergency vehicles. Residents are pulling over to the shoulder of the road when they see the flashing lights, and the improvement is noticeable.
Your continued cooperation is appreciated and needed, especially considering the volume of calls the Iqaluit Fire Department responds to. On Tuesday September 5th, the department received 34 calls for service in a 24 hour period. Residents clearing the way for emergency vehicles makes for a faster response time.
We would like to remind residents to give the firefighters room to do their jobs at a fire scene. Please stay behind the emergency vehicles, and keep a safe distance away from an active fire scene. Follow the instructions of the first responders and leave them room to work.
Your cooperation and attention makes for actual, noticeable results. Thank you for helping make Iqaluit a safer place for us all.
