Road Access Changes Require a Permit
September 23, 2025 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to remind residents, community groups, and event organizers that a road closure permit is required for any event or activity that impacts access to a public roadway.

These permits help the City manage traffic flow, maintain access for emergency services, protect public safety, and ensure that essential services, such as water delivery and waste collection, can continue without interruption.

To support this process, we kindly ask that permit applications be submitted at least 7 days in advance, where possible. This allows time for review and, if approved, for any necessary public notices or service adjustments to be coordinated.

Events such as community festivals, parades, or film productions may require a permit if they involve temporary changes to road access.

The City is committed to keeping Iqaluit safe, accessible, and informed while supporting a wide range of community activities. Your cooperation in following the permit process is greatly appreciated.
