Unauthorized Fundraising Notice
November 19, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that neither the City of Iqaluit nor its Recreation Department is currently involved in any fundraising activities on social media. Recent reports of unauthorized and unaffiliated fundraising initiatives falsely representing the City are concerning.

Please note that any fundraising efforts by the City of Iqaluit will be announced exclusively through the City’s official social media channels or website and will never be conducted by individuals.

Residents are advised to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of fundraising claims before contributing. If you encounter an organization or individual claiming to represent the City of Iqaluit in unauthorized fundraising efforts, do not provide any personal or financial information.

To report illegal lotteries or suspicious fundraising activities, please contact the Government of Nunavut Consumer Affairs Office at 1-888-975-5999 or via email at ConsumerAffairs@gov.nu.ca.
