Waste Metal Removal Program for Residential Properties September 5th – November 7th, 2024

The City of Iqaluit is pleased to announce the launch of a Waste Metal Removal Program, exclusively available to residential property owners and renters. This program, running from September 5th until November 7th, 2024, offers a unique opportunity for residents to dispose of large metal waste items conveniently.

Program Details:
  • Fee Waiver: The City will waive tipping fees for eligible metal waste items from residential properties during this one-time program.
  • Transportation Assistance: The City will assist in transporting larger metal items to the disposal site.

Eligible Items Include:
  • Vehicles
  • Snowmachines
  • Household Appliances (e.g., Stoves, Refrigerators, Washers, Dryers)
  • Other large metal items as determined and approved by the Public Works Department
Residents interested in participating in this program should contact the Public Works Department at 867-979-5630 or via email at b.shaimaiyuk-baines@iqaluit.ca to arrange disposal.

Please Note:
  • This program is not available to businesses, private industry, commercial entities, or Government agencies.
  • After November 7th, 2024, the waiver of tipping fees for large metal items will no longer be available to residential property owners.
