REMINDER: Water Consumption & Conservation– Water Wise Tips
March 20, 2023 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to remind residents this time of year is very important for the Lake Geraldine Reservoir. Until the snow melts and helps refill the reservoir, there is a limited amount of water available. We all need to reduce water usage where possible. Below are some Water Wise Tips that residents can follow, to help reduce water consumption:

496 498 500 1669 1670 1671 and 1673 remain under a precautionary boil water advisory.

During a precautionary boil water advisory, the City recommends that all water for consumption is brought to a rolling boil for a minimum of one full minute.

Water Treatment Plant Progress

Repairs to Iqaluit’s Water Treatment Plant are wrapping up. The contractors responsible for the work expect to recommend to the City of Iqaluit that we apply to the Government of Nunavut for permission to return to using the treatment plant as soon as the end of next week.

The City of Iqaluit has also hired a full time certified water treatment plant operator to supervise the facility and ensure that it operates as designed.
