The closure will be in effect from 08:00AM to 6:00PM on March 25, 2025.

Road Closure: Back-road Access to Plateau

February 28, 2025 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents that the back-road access to Plateau will be closed on Saturday, March 1, 2025, to allow Public Works staff to carry out snow removal activities.

The road will be closed from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Work will begin early in the morning and residents are expected to plan their travel accordingly.

January 17, 2025 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents of a complete road closure on Natsiq Street from January 18 to January 21, 2025. This closure is necessary to allow the City to repair a water main break.

The City apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates your understanding and cooperation as we work to maintain and improve our essential infrastructure.

November 29, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit wishes to inform residents that the completion of sewer installation work at the intersection of Queen Elizabeth Way and Sinaa Street has been delayed. The full road closure will now remain in effect until December 6, 2024 (previously scheduled to end on December 1). This extension is necessary to ensure the safe and successful completion of the project.

The City of Iqaluit advises residents of a complete road closure at the intersection of Queen Elizabeth Way and Sinaa Street (in front of the Elders Qammaq) from November 22 to December 1, 2024. This closure is necessary for the installation of new sewer lines.

October 22, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents about an upcoming infrastructure upgrade involving drainage improvements along the north side of Federal Road. This essential work will help improve drainage and stabilize the surrounding environment.

Temporary road closures will begin on October 26, 2024, and the project is expected to be completed by October 30, 2024.

Full Road Closure – Apex Bridge Replacement

October 10, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents that the construction of the new Apex Bridge, originally set for completion by October 20, has been delayed until November 10, 2024.

The delay is due to unexpected issues with the ground underneath the bridge, which required extra work to ensure a strong and lasting foundation. Some rain delays have also added time to the project.

The City of Iqaluit would like to advise residents that Niaqunngusiariaq Road will be partially closed from October 5 to October 8, 2024, due to the installation of water and sewer infrastructure for the new Recovery Centre being built across from the Arctic Winter Games Arena.

The City of Iqaluit would like to inform residents of a temporary road closure on Monday, September 30, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The closure will affect the area from 4-Corners down Queen Elizabeth Way to the Elders Qammaq. This is to accommodate the gathering for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and the subsequent Reconciliation Walk.
